Chances are you do not live in a No Kill community. But if they can do it in places like Arlington, VA, Benzie County, MI, Berkeley, CA, Brookfield, WI, Brown County, IN, Chippewa County, MI, Copper Country, MI, Duluth, MN, Fluvanna County, VA, Grosse Ile, MI, Healdsburg, CA, King George County, VA, Lynchburg, VA, Marquette, MI, Midland County, MI, Montmorency County, MI, Otsego County, MI, Powhatan County, VA, Reno, NV, Rockwall, TX, Seagoville, TX, Tompkins County, NY, Williamsburg, VA, Allegany County, MD, Barrington, RI, Cape May County, NJ, Nevada County, CA, Shelby County, KY, Southampton, NY, Terre Haute, IN, or any of the others, why not in your community?
Earlier, you wrote to the Mayor and asked for change. Did he/she respond? Is No Kill now on the local agenda? If not, ask your friends, family, and coworkers who live in your community to contact the city council/county commission/board of supervisors and make their voices heard:
Dear Mayor and Members of the City Council,
There are No Kill communities across the country in places as diverse as Arlington, VA, Benzie County, MI, Berkeley, CA, Brookfield, WI, Brown County, IN, Chippewa County, MI, Copper Country, MI, Duluth, MN, Fluvanna County, VA, Grosse Ile, MI, Healdsburg, CA, King George County, VA, Lynchburg, VA, Marquette, MI, Midland County, MI, Montmorency County, MI, Otsego County, MI, Powhatan County, VA, Reno, NV, Rockwall, TX, Seagoville, TX, Tompkins County, NY, Williamsburg, VA, Allegany County, MD, Barrington, RI, Cape May County, NJ, Nevada County, CA, Shelby County, KY, Southampton, NY, Terre Haute, IN, and others. Why not ours?
In our community, it is time for change. It is time to reject the failed philosophies and poor performance of the past. It is time to end the killing at our shelter. We have an unprecedented opportunity for a new beginning. Our citizens are kind, caring, and generous. We love animals. And we deserve an animal shelter that reflects, rather than undermines, our values.

Ask your friends, family, and coworkers to also tell their friends and family as well. It’s time to make No Kill a “kitchen table” issue in your community, something people discuss in their homes. We love animals and we vote in large numbers. That’s the message we need to send in large numbers.
